BIO
Amy received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia in 2002 and went on to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005. She practiced in outpatient orthopaedic physical therapy clinics in central Virginia and Washington before moving to Montreal in 2013. Amy has since built a flourishing physiotherapy practice, helping her client base understand how their bodies work and giving them the tools they need to move better and with less pain.
Over the course of her career, she has expanded her knowledge base by completing courses in trigger point dry needling (TDN), neural mobilizations, myofascial release (MFR), running medicine, and orthopaedic manual therapy. She has also spent the last 15+ years specializing in genetic connective tissue disorders, including Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Amy is passionate about providing her clients with appropriate manual therapy to help them be able to support proper movement patterns, and specific strengthening exercises to retrain their muscles. Her clients range from sedentary to marathoners, from chronic whole-body pain sufferers to those with acute injuries.
After working with other physiotherapists who were certified Pilates instructors, Amy discovered that this movement form was the best fit for her client base. She has since studied STOTT Rehab Pilates, helping add yet another dimension to her ever growing practice.
Amy is a member of the Ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec (OPPQ).
