Degrees
Doctor of Physiotherapy from Virginia Commonwealth University, B.A. in Psychology from University of Virginia
Specialties
Chronic Pain, Generalized Hypermobility Disorders, Manual Therapy, Trigger Point Dry Needling
Bio
Amy received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia in 2002 and went on to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005. She practiced in outpatient orthopaedic physical therapy clinics in central Virginia and Washington, DC before moving to Montreal to be with her husband in 2013. In the 10 years she has been working in Montreal, Amy has built a flourishing physiotherapy practice helping her client base understand how their bodies work and giving them the tools they need to help them move better and with less pain.
Over the course of her career, she has expanded her knowledge base and manual therapy skills by completing courses in trigger point dry needling (TDN), neural mobilizations, myofascial release (MFR), running medicine, and orthopedic manual therapy. She has also spent the last 15+ years specializing in genetic connective tissue disorders including Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Amy is passionate about providing her clients with information regarding their condition, appropriate manual therapy to help them be able to support proper movement patterns, and specific strengthening exercises to retrain their muscles. Her clients range from sedentary to marathoners, from chronic whole-body pain to acute injuries and everything between.
After working with other physios who were certified pilates instructors in Washington, DC, Amy decided that this movement form fit best with her physio approach as well as her client base, so she studied STOTT Rehab Pilates (Mat and Reformer), which has helped take her physio practice to the next level. Her next step will be adding Pilates classes to her offerings to help transition clients back to their work and recreational activities with the best strength and movement foundation possible. Look for those classes to come in the Spring/Summer of 2024!
Nurit Roth King
Physiotherapist, Co-Owner
Degrees
Doctor of Physiotherapy from Pittsburgh University, B.A. in Biology and evolutionary ecology from University of Rochester
Specialties
Manual Therapy, Active Release Technique, Muscle Energy Technique, Mulligan Technique, Neuromobilization, Vestibular Rehabilitation
Bio
Nurit received a doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002, practicing as an orthopaedic PT in upstate New York for 10 years. In 2012, she moved with her family to Montreal and built a thriving private practice. During the past 22 years, Nurit has expanded her expertise in manual therapy through post-graduate training in ART (active release technique), MET (muscle energy technique), the mulligan technique, Graston technique, neuromobilization, vestibular rehabilitation, and the scoliosis protocol. Her clients range from the sedentary office worker to elite athletes and everyone in between.
Nurit believes that exercise is an essential part of rehabilitation. Without it, it's difficult to maintain the benefits of manual therapy and even harder to prevent future injury. While studying the scoliosis protocol, she fell in love with Pilates as a way to correct and improve posture through stretching and strengthening the skeletal muscles down to the deep stabilizers. Since then, Nurit studied STOTT Pilates, with a focus on Rehab Pilates.
Adding Pilates to her repertoire was a natural progression from her days as an orthopaedic PT since this exercise modality offers the perfect balance of strength and stabilization, whether recovering from injury, wanting to focus on injury prevention or just wanting to feel stronger and more stable in your body. With her two decades of clinical experience of assessing and treating movement and function, she is able to use a diverse set of exercise and therapeutic approaches to help her clients safely reach their physical goals, while respecting their limits.
